Following the Parish Council meeting on 28th January, the Council is pleased to announce that our Parish Clerk, Kirsty Buttle, has been appointed as the official HS2 Liaison Representative for Helmdon.
Why have we made this change? As the HS2 project moves into a critical phase for our local roads and environment, the Council has decided to centralise all HS2 communications through our Proper Officer (the Clerk). This move ensures:
- A Single Version of the Truth: By having one professional point of contact, we ensure that the information we receive from HS2 and WNC Highways is verified, consistent, and available to all residents at the same time.
- Transparency & Accountability: All liaison meetings will now be formally recorded within the Council’s official administrative files, ensuring that “institutional memory” is preserved for the village.
- A Professional Voice: Kirsty brings a wealth of administrative expertise and a direct link to the Council’s legal and insurance frameworks, providing the village with the most robust representation possible.
What does this mean for you? Nothing changes in terms of your ability to raise concerns. However, you can now expect more frequent, official updates directly on the Parish Council website.
The Council would like to thank all previous volunteers who have given their time to this complex project over the years. We are now looking forward to a new chapter of transparent, professional, and community-focused engagement as we navigate the impacts of HS2 together.

Chair, Helmdon Parish Council
