Disused Railway Restoration

A detailed explanation of the restoration work being untertaken by local landowner Ed Tims in conjunction with Natural England - for the benefit of Helmdon residents.

Published: 1 June 2026

This refers to the disused Great Central Railway from Helmdon towards Sulgrave, where a permissive path runs up the side of the tunnel on Grange Lane (on right hand side with the village behind you) and across the viaduct to link up with other footpaths.

Visitors are kindly asked to remain on permissive paths, keep dogs under close control, and respect newly restored areas. These measures will help wildlife recover and ensure the success of the restoration project.
